Canadian Street Car Nationals August 24, 25 and 26, 2007

Mark your calendars for the August 24th big weekend race! Confirmed to be there are Billy Glidden – the baddest in the country, Chuck Samuels, Brian Carpenter and many more to come out and compete for $15 000.00 U.S. to win at Cayuga! We’re hoping to see many more big names for that kind of money right here in our own backyard! Lou Perrier will be back to put on a spectacular show with different coloured smoke from his jet engine motor that you don’t want to miss! This year we have a couple of acres for the Show & Shine. *Great package deal – buy a weekend pass for $60.00 and camp for free, test & tune for free and enter the Show & Shine at no extra cost. Remember, this huge event only happens once a year! Everyone is welcome all weekend and to our Saturday night bash which will include music from live bands! Visit www.CanadianStreetCarNationals.com
I’d like to apologize for it being so long since our last newsletter. It has been extremely busy at the shop, like trying to catch a wave with a bucket! We’re doing our best to keep up and service all of our customers. We have a new employee working in our shop, Andrew Stuart who comes from out east. Please remember, next winter to take advantage of our shop time when we are less busy. We’re like a summer resort – busy, I really do appreciate everyone’s patience.

Just a quick reminder, if I am busy when you call, leave your name and number and I will always call back, it is a rule that I have. A note on Matthew, he ran 8.70’s @ 160 mph on drag radials pro stars. In my last newsletter, I mentioned CAA Plus, even the nicest hot rods will eventually break down, so don’t put it off – towing is very expensive.

Open House, Garage Sale & Dyno Day

We will be open on Sunday, July 8 for our huge Open House, Garage Sale and Dyno Day from 10: AM to 3: PM. Everyone is welcome to join us for free pizza and pop, make an offer on tones of new and used parts, including gears, rims, tires and much more. Take advantage of our dyno special for July 8th only – receive 2 pulls with air fuel for only $50.00! Call now to get your spot on our list as dyno time is limited to 50 cars only. The day’s events will be covered by Modified Mustangs! We hope that you’re able to make it out.

GTAMC

You may have noticed that DaSilva Racing is no longer a member of the GTAMC. We decided to pull out due to differences. The GTAMC is sill a great club to belong to and if you’ve got the time, they’re always looking for volunteers to help out.

Ron’s Corner

I can’t believe how quickly winter has come and gone. I’m sure if you haven’t already you will be getting your car out of winter storage shortly. I attended both the Speedorama and Performance World shows back in January and March. As usual Joe and the boys did a great job setting up the booths. I obtained a DVD of the J&P Reunion held last August. All I can say is that it is an excellent 58 min. show. If you haven’t already got a copy it would be in your best interest to get one. Well done Joe and Andy Scultety! Andy, by the way, filmed, produced and edited the video. Looking forward to this years show August 24th – August 26th. Not that we are thinking already of storing our cars for next winter, but a tip you might find useful – this one courtesy of one of the Barrett Jackson commentators at their auction back in January – to preserve rubber around doors don’t close them completely. If you are interested in exporting a car from the U.S. to Canada “The Registry of Imported Vehicles” (www. riv.ca, 888-848-8240) is the regulatory body that oversees such transactions. Its website lists information on U.S. vehicles admissible for import into Canada, along with modifications requirements, customs and duty information, etc. In Joe’s last newsletter he mentioned about CAA Plus membership. I can recommend this from first hand experience. Remember too, that if you use Sunoco gas that will lower the cost of next year’s membership if you choose to renew it. Just returned from the All Ford Show down in Carlisle Penn. It was my first time down there and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. For those of you that have never been I strongly urge you to attend it. I’m sure you won’t regret it. Congratulations to Andy Scultety who placed second in the best of 03/04 Cobras. Well done Andy! By the way, next year’s All Ford Show will be held June 8th and 9th 2008. Hope to see you there! The answer to the last newsletters trivia question – In what year did the first Ford F truck appear? The answer is 1948. This newsletters trivia question is - In what year did Ford build its first V8 vehicle? Continued safe driving!

2nd Annual Modified Mustangs/ Joe’s Garage Cruise

Something you don’t want to miss is the 2nd Annual Modified Mustangs Joe’s Garage cruise. This will be taking place on the Sunday of the Thanksgiving long weekend. Last year we had 85 cars and this year we’re expecting more. We will meet at the Tim Hortons on the corner of Morningside and Kingston at 9.00 am. They will have extra staff on hand to serve coffee. The actual destination of the cruise will be a surprise, but I can tell you that you won’t want to miss it. The first 100 cars and drivers who show up will also receive an exclusive Modified Mustangs/ Joe’s Garage tee-shirt. The editor from Modified will also be hand and they might be looking for feature cars, so make sure your ride is clean. Last year we had a blast and this one promises to be even better. Be there or be square!
